Introduction of the Training and Development Center for Lao Wood Processing Sector

Following the proposed letter of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce No. 46/MOIC.DOIH dated 12 January 2017 and pursuant to the supervision and decision of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, on the 15^th of February 2017 the Prime Minister’s Office released the Notification No. 265/PMO.ED on the “Establishment of Wood Processing Factory Model and Wood Processing Cluster”.

With the support from GIZ/ProFLEGT project and local authorities, the Training and Development Center (TDC) is now established with the purpose to provide training to build capacities for companies working in the wood processing sector. There are different phases supporting the TDC. The first phase sponsored by GIZ/ProFLEGT project will provide a training program on Chain of Custody (CoC) combined with Production Management for supervisors coming from different Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) working in the wood processing companies.
